Your local Reading Karate club
Reading Karate is a friendly karate club based in Reading. We are open to people of all ages (children from 8 upwards) and abilities.
We are affiliated to Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International (SSKI), whose Chief Instructor is Malcolm Phipps Sensei (8th Dan). The association is highly respected worldwide, and regularly runs courses with top instructors. Students from the association have won top medals in UK and international competitions, and were recently featured on Blue Peter on BBC1.
Friendly, Safe and Disciplined
Reading karate club has been training since 1997. Many local children and adults have learnt karate in this friendly, safe, disciplined environment, and gone on to advanced Black belt and won Bronze Medals in European and World championships.
Karate is great for building confidence and improving concentration, especially with children, and is also good for stress relief.
The club is run by Nick Forgham, a 5th Dan Black belt, who has run the club since 1997. Nick is fully insured, CRB checked and trained in First Aid. The club has students aged 10 to 50something! and meets at The Warehouse, Cemetery Junction.

In March 2011 the club did 5,000 punches (each!) and raised £757 for the NSPCC and Association funds. Previously we have raised £430 for the NSPCC in 2004, and in April 2007 we all completed 10,000 punches, which was over two hours of punching, and raised £1,000 for Cancer Research.
We will help you reach whatever goals you have – winning trophies, reaching Black Belt or just getting fit.
